    240sx clutch 12 valve vs 16 valve

Can anyone tell me the difference between the clutch kits for the different motors? Everything seems to be the same but there's two different part numbers. I've got a LUK clutch kit OEM replacement for the 12 valve that I'm trying to sell and someone with a 16 valve is interested. I don't...

    Easy fluid changing/adding idea

Lawn sprayer, the thing you fill, pump a bunch of times and then spray weed/bug killer. I think I've seen it recommended to pressure bleed the brake system, but just got the idea from some boating buddies to use it for gear oil. See no reason why it couldn't be used for diff and trans fluid?

    I need 240sx front splitter/air dam ideas

I've been wanting to do this forever but I'm the least bit creative when it comes to this stuff. This would be for my ITA 240. I guess I'll start with a sheet of plywood, park the car on it and trace the bumper line. I have no idea how it should mount, if it should be covered (fiberglass?)...

How does diff type (RWD-open, welded, 1,1.5,2 way) affect turn-in?

Perhaps this is a two-parter because I don't know exactly what makes a differential 1-way, 1.5 way, or 2-way. Right now I've got an open diff, OEM viscous limited slip, a Quaiffe and an OEM zexel-torsen type. It's been a long time since I've run with the open diff and the car is completely...

    Nissan diff service in SoFla?

Hopefully it's ok that I post this here; if not, shoot me a pm or something. I've got a new gear and LSD that I'd like to get installed before next Friday's test day at Moroso. I know there's a Nissan shop off Commercial at the east end of Executive airport (if it's still there). But I was...

How do you keep a white trailer white?

I've tried that Black Streak Remover from Wal-Mart; I wasted $5. The poor thing sits in a storage lot all day and it happens to sit in the flight path of the local general aviation airport. A couple pilot friends said they have stuff they use on the airplanes. Should I fork out the money or...

Ring & pinion clearances, tight or loose?

Just wondering if there's a preference for setting up differentials. I'm guessing setting up on the loose end of the factory specs will help it run a little cooler? But even though we're talking thous of an inch, could the loose set up cause any damage or ill effects? Thanks, Michael

    Interesting article on helmet hardness

http://motorcyclistonline.com/gearbox/hatz/ Don't know how old it is, just came across it in a motorcycle forum I participate in. Even though it's geared towards motorcyclists' helmets, it's got to make you wonder... As if we had enough distaste of Snell on the HNR stuff... Michael

    Source for used slicks?

Yes, I know this is the IT forum, but I figure somebody on here has a friend or two that runs Production. Just wondering where I could get a set of slicks in the 23x9.5x15 variety, or similar. I've got a set of non-IT legal wheels that I want to play with at an autocross or HPDE once in a...

Finding & mounting to wall beams?

I read the tire rack mounting thread, and I'm just a little confused about which screws are best when trying to secure stuff to the wall beams in an enclosed trailer. Thread-making screws seemed like the best idea, but do those secure the load, or do you then get machine screws? And if I read...

SCUBA tank as compressed air source?

I'm currently renting a 120 nitrogen tank and I own a smaller, 80 I think, nitrogen tank. But I was wondering if anyone is succesfully using a SCUBA tank for their portable air source. Thanks, Michael

    240sx tow hook ideas?

It's been a year since my last race and even though SCCA is good enough to send all of us our very own GCR, I'm just now getting wind of this year's new requirements. Just in time for this coming weekend's racing. So, I've got an ITA 240 that I guess needs a new tow hook up front. Any and all...

Enclosed trailer floor: dark or light?

Just wondering if anyone has done something different than your basic gray floor or checkerboard/ATP, or the laminate that somebody did? Will a dark trailer floor make the interior too dark? The more I type, I don't think so... I'm thinking of going with a royal/dark blue floor and main ramp...

Finally brought home an enclosed trailer

I bought a Haulmark Thrifty Hauler 8.5x24 with 10k axles and the "Thrifty Package". My thoughts so far: I picked it up direct at the factory. While I save the delivery charge, apparently that means I have to return to the factory for any warranty service. A real bummer since I've since...

Trailer wheel and brake shoe specs?

Just wondering if the 5- and 6-bolt trailer hubs have a common bolt pattern, like a Ford or GM equivalent. Or does it depend on the hub manufacturer? And what about the brake shoes? I think I've seen that there are 10" and 11" drums, do these have a common automotive equivalent? Thanks, Michael

    More enclosed trailer questions

I'm looking at a used one of these: http://www.forestriverinc.com/contcargo/value.htm Supposedly he paid just over $6k for a wedge-nose version with 10k axles. Anybody with Continental Cargo experiences? They weren't mentioned in the other thread. More general questions: flat front vs. wedge...

Which LT tires for 3/4 ton Yukon XL?

I hope everyone had a happy and safe holiday season. My present this year was a 2001 Yukon XL 2500 with the 8.1L & 4wd. It's got Pirelli Scorpion A/Ts on it right now (245/75-16, I think they're LT/E-load), which need replacing. They look good, wider than the average LT245, but I'm not sure I...

New truck, or new torque conv/tranny?

I've got a '99 Silverado w/5.3L that's got over 75k miles. It's been through a fair amount of towing an approx 6,000lb car/trailer combo. I want to get an enclosed trailer, which I know will be stressing the limits of the current powertrain, even if it were new. Is it worth considering...

    Dang 75 amp fuse/link whatever...

Alright, so it looks like a loose alternator wire contributed to the demise of my 75amp fuse. Is it safe to say this 75amp'er is also to blame for my dash not working, no horn, lights, etc...? heh...at least the car still runs... Michael SEDIV ITA '89 240SX
