Washer bottles -- was it armageddon?

Hey guys, Sorry for leaving IT after I dropped the "no more washer bottles" bomb! But I was thinking about it today with my old racing buddies, and I want to know -- over the last 3 seasons, did the sky fall? I almost bought another Z3 Coupe today and it got me reminiscing about IT :-)

    I'm out ...

Last week I got one of those random e-mails from someone I don't know, saying that if I was willing to sell my ITR car, he'd buy ... and I found myself saying "yes." Everything's for sale for the right price, of course, and I haven't raced at all in 2011. That's the second race car I've sold...

Do FIA-homolagated seats expire in the eyes of the SCCA?

My seat, a Sparco Circuit with a 2005 date on it, is homologated to FIA 8855-1999. I do not use a seat back brace and I use Sparco side mounts bolted directly to the original chassis seat mounts with the use of an adapter. I can't find anything in the GCR that says that this seat will ever...

    Car specs in the ITCS

Does anyone think there is big value in having car specs listed in the ITCS? Engine size, valve sizes, brake sizes, gear ratios, etc? Seems to me all that's really necessary is a description of what the spec line covers, and the weight, since we are just listing specifications out of each cars...

If you go off the track ... stay off the track!

A year ago at Laguna Seca, a car that was well in front of me during qualifying flew off the outside of turn 6. He got it sort of kind of straight out in the dirt, but then the car suddenly hooked and he came flying back across the track, right into my path. His car was totaled and mine was...

Need help getting a big part from Sacramento

Hi everyone ... I know there are precious few SFR racers hanging out here, but I'm not sure where the best place to post is. The only part I still need to finish the Z3 repairs is the bumper cover. These are expensive new and hard to find used ... can't find any used ones in the bay area...

Always on the lookout for new IT cars ...

On my way to work this morning, I saw two cars that I haven't seen in a LONG time ... a Ford EXP and a Mercury Capri convertible (the little Aussie one, not the Mustang clone.) I thought, "hey, those would be cool IT cars." I looked up the specs on the EXP and it looks like a solid ITC car...

    Correction to 5/09 Fastrack

As you all probably noticed, the 305ci Camaro/Firebird and the 5.0L Mustangs were added to ITR in the latest Fastrack. However, they were published with incorrect weight listings. Please refer to this post on the SCCA.com forums for the correction...

    January 2009 Fastrack is out..

Did everyone see the story about the rear spoiler protest on an ITA RX-7? I've seen this car many times, but it never occurred to me to comment on the spoiler. The owner, Chuck Koos, used the GCR section 9.1.3.8.b as justification for the spoiler. I can see why, although generally, it seems...

First leg of the ITTC is over!

Not quite the turnout we'd hoped for -- the cost of towing, the hot weather, and the California forest fires all damped the turnout. The fires? Thunderhill is not directly at any of the fire sites, but it's downwind, and the haze and smell of smoke is unmistakable. It was especially bad...

IT Triple Crown West Coast Event

It's official -- the date for this race for 2008 will be July 26th/27th, at Thunderhill Raceway. It will be a traditional regional that will count towards the ITTC. Next year, when we have more lead time, we should be able to get some extra bonus races or something, and hopefully move it to...

    Permanent link for "today's posts?"

I actually really liked the old software. It was better than any other forum software I've ever used at tracking what I'd read and what I hadn't. Looks like the new software knows when I last visited, but not what I did when I last visited. Anyway, the most useful way to read this new...

Anyone cross over to BMWCCA CR or NASA GTS?

I've never raced anywhere but with the SCCA. Next season I'm considering doing some BMWCCA races and/or NASA races (in GTS2). Just curious -- how do you all handle the crossover issues? Different decal requirements, etc? I hate all of the required decals for BMWCCA ... if you cross over...

    Round 2, May 5th/6th

Looks like we'll have as many ITR cars for round 2 as we have ITB and ITC. So far on the entry list: ITR: 2 (both brand new builds, not old ITS cars!) ITS: 5 ITA: 32 (27 of which are double-dipping Spec Miatas) ITB: 2 ITC: 2 I don't know of any other local ITR cars being built right now, but...

    Removing steering lock

About to try to disable the steering lock in my '99 Z3. Service manual procedure looks pretty involved. Can anyone tell me anything I need to know before I attempt this? When I get the lock assembly off, will it be obvious how to disable it and still re-mount the ignition switch?
