    LouElla Cook ECR question

Trying to figure out how to get pit stuff out to the wall for the two ECR's. I've got a little buggy that's useful, but it takes up room in the tow truck. Will they let us use a vehicle (like Road Atlanta) to ferry stuff over or is it more like VIR (no vehicles past the inner gate). Anybody...

    Rules question- Protege suspension mod

I'm a little fuzzy how to interpret IT rules on whether I can swap a stock rear suspension link for the one in the picture below. Car is an ITB Protege. Appreciate y'all's opinion: Thks- Steve

Couple of questions from the ITB Protege build

Getting close to the finish line in converting our SSC Protege to ITB. In studying the ITCS and researching this forum, I have a couple of things that I'm not sure are kosher. 1) Installed a brand-x CAI - now I'm thinking it may not be legal since the intake is in the front fender. I can get a...

    VIR CCPS Incident?

We had to DNF Sunday's CCPS as the brakes on the Protege gave up the ghost. Were loading up when we heard about a rumble at impound- an SRF hit an emergency vehicle? We didn't want to hang around, but would like to know the details if anyone has them. May be a learning moment for some drivers...

    Kill switch mandatory?

This is likely a silly question (though I have skimmed the GCR), but is it mandatory to have a kill switch for IT? We have an old SSC car that we plan to convert to ITB, thought about running it in an upcoming Regional "as is" except for class designation to get a jump on next year. Don't have...

    POG at the SIC?

I'll be attending my first SIC next month- looking forward to it. Gas question- assume we can use Plain Old Gas, from any pump? Wondered if we had to buy at the track. Thks- Steve SM # 85

Bringing back the 55 mph limit?? Read this!

:026: Guys, don't know where this might fit, so I've picked this section. Writing to raise the alarm- a U.S Senator has brought up bringing back the old National 55 mph speed limit, in the name of "energy savings". Sadly, it's Virginia's own Senator John Warner, who yesterday asked the DoE to...

'99-'00 Addition of Mazda Protege ES to ITB

Think this car can compete with the Honda's in ITB? I still have a part ownership in a '00 Protege SSC car. It always handled great with the trunk kit, but with modest power and the aerodynamics of a brick, we couldn't see ITA. Steve

    Protege question

Taking a long shot here, but I'm hoping someone out there is pretty familiar with the '99-2003 Protege. We run one in SSC at the moment (ITA some day), and we need some front camber! Do they make "crash bolts" for these cars that we could use to get a little tilt? (-2 is actually legal in the...

    Miata Front Brake Problem

Got a front brake problem I need help with. Car is a '99 former SSB, been converting it to SM this summer. Put all new Mazda OEM rotors on front and back and new Carbotech pads front and back. Adjusted the rear pads OK. Installed the steel lines. Bled all four corners w/ new fluid, etc. Drove it...

Anybody notice this on the ECR website? "Rumor has it the May 28th ECR at Kershaw will be a 3 hour race run Monday morning" Can anyone "confirm" the "rumor" ? Steve

Rock Hotels- which is closer ?

I've done this both ways, but it's been awhile. There's good hotels in both Rockingham proper (S) and Southern Pines (N). Which is closer to the track ? We're in that early Sunday ECR, so ten minutes extra sack time might be nice. Thks- Steve

    New Mini in ITB ?

Anybody notice the Comp Board Advisory that just came out (March Fastrack) showing the 2002 Mini in ITB ? No details, it must be the base level car. I ran against one in SSC (Nationals a couple years ago) and they handled well but lacked power (also chewed up front tires from lack of camber)...

    Miata question- Leakdown test

Running my '99 as an SSB car (SM next year). The car felt a little draggy at the last National. Had a guy I trust (experienced in german cars, but, hey, I know him..) Leakdown tested as follows: #1 8% #2 28% #3 20% #4 6% At face value, I have a problem. Assuming this looks like a legit...

Brake Rotor Question- 1st or 2nd Gen ?

Need help ! Cleaning out the garage last weekend, found a set of 4-lug front rotors I ordered from Mazda many moons ago by mistake (I run a 2nd Gen in ITS). Now I can't figure out what they might fit, so as to find a lucky buyer who would pay me half price. The part number is FB01-33-201. Does...

    Spring Rates- 2nd Gen ITS

What seems to the hot tip for spring rates these days (front + rear). I've heard 500-600 lbs in the front (I'm currently running much lower than that). I'm happy with the way the car handles, but wonder if I am giving up some overall cornering power. Any comments/ suggestions ??

    '89-'90 Airflow meter

HELP ! Have finally located an airflow meter from a late 2nd gen RX7, but I do not have the "plug" or connector end from the wiring harness to the a/f meter itself. Should be a 5-pin connector. Would appreciate any help, direction, suggestions, etc.. (Of course, will be glad to pay something...

    2nd Gen Tranny problem

Any idea what would cause difficulty in downshifting? Just had tranny rebuilt- shifted OK at first, but is now very difficult to downshift, particularly 4th to 3rd (Turn 1 @ Summit). You can get it in eventually, but it feels like it takes a lifetime... Also v. easy to beat the synchro's on the...

    2nd Gen RX7 Transmission Lubricant

I just had my trans rebuilt- the builder swears I should use conventional oil because of "heat transferance" problems with synthetics. This seems contrary to my past experience, plus what I've heard from others. Wear may be better, but this trans got real hard to downshift from 4th to 3rd on my...
