2001 civic EX final drive into CRX?

So I found out recently that the 2001 civic EX has a 4.40 final drive gear, on an SOHC transmission...

Has anyone looked into adapting this into the crx tranny? I believe the countershaft in the 92-2000 civics was 3mm longer than in the crx transmission.
 
Traditionally, any of the D-block final drives will interchange. This one may work!

Seems to me that earlier "Si" versions of the Civic (late '80s, early '90s) were available in Canada with a 4.4 final drive. I know they were in England and mainland Europe. I'll see if I can't dig up a transmission code...

I'm in canada, with a canadian 88 crx... so are you saying that I may already have a 4.4 FD?
Failing that, would I require the '01 EX countershaft to match the ring gear?

I misspoke earlier... I think the early Integra that had a D-motor (LS?) came with a 4.4 final drive. The English & European 4.4 D-series didn't turn up until the 5th Gen in the Rover variants. Still looking for the tranny code...

It's always a good idea to swap shafts since it would save you pressing off/on the pinion gear... But not if they're not identical. The SCCA allows swapping of final drives but not mixing/matching of tranny componentry. You'll probably have to use whichever pinion you find and machine to fit the shaft.
