240z Parts

Ok, so I'm giving the 240z a thorough going over. And naturally found stuff.
And since I got pointed to a good site for brake drums, I was wondering about
some other parts and where to look.

I'm looking for the following stuff.....

Header gasket
brake rebuild kits (the system isn't bad, I just want to replace seals everywhere)
Carb gaskets (to the air cleaner and to the intake without buying a whole rebuild kit)
float bowl gaskets (without buying a whole rebulid kit)
Master clutch cylinder rebuild kit
slave cylinder rebuild kit
caliper rebulid kit

Any ideas, I'm going to the local dealer today. I already checked out motorsport auto and z therapy.

Tom,

FWIW I have had good luck with the Beck Arnley pieces that are available via Advance Auto parts aka Partsamerica.com

I am not sure that the carb gaskets are available except with the kits via Advance. IIRC the rebuild kits were ~$18 each and included most of the gaskets.

Good luck, I did the same thing last year and Advance was competitive in price and no shipping charges since I had it delivered to the local store.

Paul,

Thanks, I didn't even think aftermarket. Duh!

Joeg,
The exhaust / intake gaskets aren't a problem because I need a header style gasket and there are a few choices. But if anyone has preferences I'd like to hear about it.

Hey,
As long as I'm getting great feedback, what battery are y'all using? I had a Sear's diehard but it died. At the time I bought it, I took a scale and weighed all the appropriate batteries for the 240z. And bought the lightest.

The Nissan Motorsports part numbers for only gasket that works with headers is:

99996-E1044 (square port L24/26)
99996-N1044 (square port L28)

You can also grind or cut this gasket to help with port matching.

Thanks for the info. I'll make sure the header gaskets I'm getting are the correct ones.
That header gasket is the one without metal right? That's what I've used in the past.

Can you make me one of those Titanium/Ceramic heat shields?

I have got a NAPA battery in mine. I have no idea what it weighs but I will need to find out soon enough. I am about 30# light with 1/2 cell of fuel and no driver. Of course I still need to remove the door glass and winder mechanism's as well.

I run an Optima red top. It is either the group 25 (8025-160) or the group 34 (8002-002). Those are the two recomended models for my car. (77 280z) I got it at the Advanced Auto Parts (local) store and one of those two was a fairly universal model that they had sitting on the shelf. It's top terminal and the terminals were on the right sides for mounting in the Zcar. It comes with a little adapter plate that makes it be the right hieght for mounting using the stock hardware/brakets. (all still available new from Nissan) It wasn't cheap, I think over two hundred and change. It wieghts just a few pounds less then stock (around 25 - 30 as I recall) which fit my interpratation of IT legal. I chose it for two reasons. It's gel and sealed so it will never leak acid on my pristine inner fender / firewall area. And they are deep cycle so it can sit for long periods of time without dying. Well... that has been my experience. I've had it over two years. It's never failed to start the car, even after sitting for weeks / months. I live in Floriduh so I don't know how it would hold up in the cold. Hope it helps.
