Another ITA Option?

Hi Kirk, what precidence are you referring to? I haven't been following the fastrack lately. Would the Maazda MP3 be in the same situation? 2.0, 140hp, heavy FWD...Focus looks good though...

I was thinking of all of the "IT2" type cars that seem to be headed to A - like the Protege, Nissan SE-R and NX2000, etc.

Before putting $5,000 down on a IT car, I'd want to know what class it is in. Otherwise I'd much rather stick with a CRX or Integra for A. At least know what I'm getting into.

But I'm sure the value of the car would go up if it does make it to A.

So many of the potentially newly classified cars will be quite heavy and fwd ie EscortGT compared to the CRX that it will take a lot of hp to counter the benefits of lite-weight. Only the 240sx has the added advantage of rwd plus the hp to counter the CRX and even then it costs a lot to run like Stretch. Not all 240's were made the same.
 
It would be an option, but I would bet has nothing for the Honda's. Struts vs. Double wishbone should really be the deciding factor.

Don't bother watching the Acuras at the ARRC. Watch the pretty blue saturn make its way around the track. That's where the show will be!

I don't remember Cosworth Vega's coming in any color other than white or black. The photo in your post is maroon. Is that an original color.

Also drove a Cosworth in the early 80's.

The Cosworth was only available in black for 1975 but in 1976 it was available in several different colors. Black, white, green, blue, firethorn, saddle, buckskin...

The car I have was a leftover Vega chassis that was converted to a Cosworth in 1975. It was part of a race team that had another CV. This was the design and prototype car. The guy that owned and drove this one went on to several SR Ford National wins. The owner of the other one disappeared after ripping people off in some realty scam. This car ran in IMSA and then was put into storage in San Diego in the early 80s.

I will be running it in VPO3 hopefully next seacon. It makes about 280 hp with the Hilborn on it, and probably about 220 with the Webers. It weighs 1800lbs wet.

Since the rules have changed over the years, current ITA suspension rules are almost exactly how this car is set up (sans coil overs). So I plan on doing some development on this one and then running it to see if I really want to pursue my ITA Cosworth project.

What happened to your CV? Do you remember what number it was?
