Can I remove the passenger side mirror?

GCR states that any interior/exterior mirrors may be used...

Does this mean I can remove the passenger side mirror on a car that originally had one?
 
Let your competitors remove it.

My car is 100 lbs. over min weight...So I am trying to "slim it down."

The last 100lbs is proving to be tedious to find, so I am looking at things like this...
 
I know several people who have replaced the stock outside mirrors with really light, convex mirrors mounted on the rollcage, just inside the window. Gives a pretty good view, it seems, and saves a couple pounds.

I've been looking around for mirrors and/or brackets to mount off my cage. Do you, or anyone else for that matter have any recommendations?

I use with my full-width Wink mirror and they are readily available, rollbar clamps (like the ones used for helmet hooks) with long slots perfect for adjustng the wink. If you are interested I'll dig through my catalogs for the source.

And I beleive mirrors are pretty much free, at least that's the way we treat them in the WDC Region.
 
Maybe Scott Giles will check in here. He's one of the examples that I was thinking of. I bought a round stick-on convex mirror at NAPA and put it on my passenger outside mirror, because I lose part of it to a rollcage element. It works great and a person could probably whip up a bracket of some kind. They weight just a little more than nothing and are surprisingly clear.

OK, stupid newbie question; I bought my car finished, so I'm trying to make due with what the previous owner/builder did.

The car still has both outside mirrors, as well as a wink mirror mounted to the rollcage. My problem is, the window net pretty much obstructs the view of the driver-side mirror. Both side mirrors have the little 1" convex mirrors stuck to the inside corner. I can see that alright (which is probably enough since I'm not going to be trying to read the stickers on the car that's passing me).

Is this a common problem? It COULD be a good reason to go to a convex "side" mirror mounted just inside the window.

I can't speak for everyone, but driver side view, because of the reasons you speak of, is a problem for many. The full view wink helps a lot, and some jerry-rigged sideviews, but I suggest you get used to using your ears and a quick glance over your left shoulder, if you're not using that seat with the wrap around head restraints. I also find that getting in the habit of knowing what's behind you (read: quick takes on the inside rearview mirror as often as prudent) will let you know ahead of time where and when people are setting up to pass. I don't mean to belabor the obvious, but newbies, just like the rest of us, sometimes forget what they already know.

Stock 1st Gen RX drivers side mirrors are useless with a ribbon style window net. They are in the worst possible spot. Stick the biggest possible convex bubble mirror on there and live with it, or mount one on the interior. I looked into some bus/18 wheeler style bubble mirrors, but have yet to get around to changing anything...

Are the mesh style window nets easier to see through????

Oh.. only problem mounting the mirror inside is if you use the mirrors to back off of your trailer to watch your tires

I got convex mirrors, 4"dia IIRC from NAPA. They came with a bracket you can weld or clamp to the cage. About $15.

I have a black mesh type net and I can use the stock driver's side mirror. My only problem is that it vibrates allot. I am using the Wink Mirror more than the side mirrors.

I had a ribbon net and switched to a mesh because I couldn't see my mirror. Big difference!!! No problem now.
