Interior Trim

I have a 95 neon that I am converting from Spec Neon to ITA. When I got the car all the interior other than the dash and front door panels was removed. The GCR is a little unclear on this question, on a 4 door car are the rear door panels allowed to be removed?

A sheet of 60 thou aluminum is probably heavier than the door panel. Call part of it a grab handle and remove it.

Nerd response:

9.1.3.D.9.f.

Door interior trim panels MAY be replaced with 0.060 aluminum securely attached to the door. (The clue is MAY, not mandatory. :D )

All other interior trim panels, except the dashboard, MAY be removed. (The clue is MAY be removed. :D Take em off & throw them to the scrap pile. Not required to replace them with Aluminum. :D )

Happy Next Year ;)

"All other interior trim panels ...." means that the rest of that line does not apply to door panels. Looks like you have to replace them with aluminum if you remove them.

I ran the #'s a while back... ends up saving you about 1.5 lbs per side.... Not really worth the cost of the aluminum.
Hrmmmm... wonder what the cost of .060 expanded aluminum is :D
