To chicane or not chicane that is the question?

It would like people to weigh in again on the chicane. Personally I love it. I think it make NHIS a bit more technically difficult and more fun. Don't get me wrong, I really like NASCAR T-1 and T-2, it gives me a chance to clean up my voice mail on the cell phone, but I would favor running both courses for "Double Regional Events". Would like to hear others feedback.

I like running both courses. I ran the event last year, with the wrong gearing in the car, but still liked having a different course each day.
Congrats on a good comeback on Saturday. You can't let Chris run away with points.....it might go to his head.

Just curious - how many less or more accidents are there running the chicane?

Is that with rain or no rain. Not many crashes up in the oval anyway.I like driving the eses/chicane but it strings out the field. If your behind, the oval is a place to take a chance to make up ground.
I like both but once a year is good. ? would the eses/chicane be good for the Enduro.

Didn't like it at all last year. This year,however, was a different story. With the proper gearing in the car it was actually a whole lot of fun and after viewing some in car video, I actually got to see how much fun it was. I really like Nascar T1,T2, but now, I'll take either course. Besides, the stress level is greately reduced on the chicane course.

I really liked using the south chicane on the second day. It was nice to have a different configuration for a change. I think this work well for the double events. Although it may limit some passing opportunities, there was still places to get around in the chicane.

It gives the cars with less horsepower a chance to out handle some of the other cars.
Of course if the higher powered cars can handle too... it doesn't help. I like the change of pace for the double event, but I wouldn't want to eliminate the south oval and replace it entirely (not that anyone is suggesting it). All in all it was another good event hosted by the NER. Looking forward to Cheap Date.

The chicane takes some time to get used to. I didn't have enough time, as my car crapped out. I think I liked it, though.
 
While I think it is harder on the cars, I do think it limits the contact as there is so much less speed into T3.

I like the change for Double events. It mixes it up a little.

I like the chicane also. Speeds are way less going into 3, the bimmers can't pull away quite as much at the end of the straight and it adds variety to a double. I'm glad we were running the chicane when it started raining - I'd hate to see the damage going into the wall at 1 at speed.

I found the chicane a bit challenging, seeing it for the first time at Sunday qualifying. An overheating engine kept me from running the Sunday race. But as a spectator for the ITA/ITC race, the chicane seemed to spread out the field alot. Except for the 1st lap adventure in turn 3, the race was pretty uneventful to watch.

I look forward to running the chicane again.

from the outside looking in (thru my viewfinder) the chicane really mixed it up for some drivers. It completely disrupts the rhythm that some are accustomed to at NHIS - which overall is a good thing. Cars that are down on hp but handle well got thru it quickly (not just IT but even the the fast guys without fenders). Having the chicane in place for doubles should be a mandate! The change of pace requires front runners to actually make some adjustments between races if they want to stay up front.

and it makes for some great photos!

My first time @ NHIS was a test & tune with the chicane. I loved it! Zip zip zip, little drift, sweet! Have not yet been able to do it in a race yet, so I hope the region keeps it around for awhile.

I hope not. It is really hard on the cars. There is no place for the cars or drivers to breathe in that set up.

South oval is - for most cars - a medium RMP trip in 4th gear. Chicane is a 3rd gear affair, then most cars hold 3rd into turn three - or shift for a second, then back to 2nd gear.

While the oval is hecktic, it does provide a releive to the cars from an RPM standpoint. I haven't talked with anyone whose cars runs the same temps chicane/chicane.
