Rear Control Arms???

I've got live engine telemetry:

1. Steam --- coolant leak.

2. Blue smoke -- oil be leakin!

3. Black smoke -- oil be leakin and burning!

4. White smoke -- damn Lucas crap!

5. Flame --- double damn that Lucas crap!

6. No engine noise -- sumptin broke!

7. Bad engine noise -- hold it down Captain, she ain't blowed up yet!

8. Good engine noise -- dude, this can't be right!

That's true.

1. Burnt smell -- damn Lucas crap! Prepare to eject!

2. Acrid burnt smell -- oil be leakin and burnin!

3. Eau de carbon metallic -- usin' them brakes!

4. Burnt rubber -- usin' them brakes too much!

5. stinky ass -- damn, should NOT have had those chicken wings and beer for dinner!

Mark,
If you know how to contact him you should give him a heads up to this forum and that he probably should fix it BEFORE he runs ITA. (Could he run ITE with you?) I guess in PT it would just move him class wise. I don't know how picky the guys running SWDIV IT have been this past year as I only ran a couple of events, but that type stuff might draw a little bit of concern.

I tried to PM him on a NASA board but apparently don't have the post count to PM, maybe someone else wants to refer him to this thread. I was going to give him a little heads up to "keep it clean" and that blatant disregard for the rules was not well recieved here or anywhere. Of course he can go ITE with me and I'd encourage that. In reading back at his posts (http://www.nasaforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=18957&start=0 - Mike is SaveSpecNeon) , he will be at the Feb TWS R/N race and then the NASA MSRC race March . I won't be at the R/N but whichever ITA cars are there might want to look around. There was 3 of them at the Dec. school and looks like possibly a total of 5 new Neons next year?

okay, i'm confused!

in one post, you are talking about ITA winning cars having this mod.

and then in the next post, you are talking about neons having the mod....

so which is it, an ITA winning car or a Neon?

after getting hit by neons in NASA races, i started referring to them as Spec Neonderthals.

and the smelly telemetry comments reminded me of the timeless classic Lucas Smoke Recharge Kit:

You guys are WAY to nice to give him the heads up. He has mods he KNOWS are illegal (and brags about it). That's just a slap in the face to the rest of us. I say fry him at his first SCCA event.

Neons,,,or ANY car, can win ITA, IF you race in the right part of the country, and the tough guy(s) don't show up.....

Heck even my RX-7 has a 1st place ITA trophy under it's belt!

Well...... is the control arm setup legal or not?
[/b]

Ummmm.....No.

And here's some more insight from one of the links above:

Overall the car is in good shape...more surprises and interesting ideas will be coming to this thread as we go along. There will be some interesting changes along the way. We are going to see how competitive we can make a single cam in ITA.

Just to name a few items on the list:
adjustable lateral links on the rear[/b/
adjustable rear sway bar end links using heim joints
iceman intake
aftermarket computer (I'm using a stock dual cam right now)
tricks with brakes
and a few surprises along the way.

Remember guys, the eye sees what the mind percieves!

A few surprises indeed. :bash_1_:

Mee thinks he needs one more surprise..NO warning.

concur..clearly illegal.

it they were legal every e36 bmw out there would have an adjustable lower rear control arm put in to replace the cheesy failure prone stock part....
[/b]

Haven't seen the car in a while, but there was at least one E36 running those in the SE...

Word must have traveled, his posts have been edited now and content removed. He sounds more like an angel. His signature also changed to include this line...

Fixed that for him. :bash_1_:

Chris, thats in the top three of your best posts ever. you should go over to the other site and cross link this thread.

I think Jack M. had a visit with one of the Texas Neon guys and word must have traveled. i would expect things to be right if they run SCCA at TWS in Feb. Not sure of NASA as they are running their own SN class (sort of unoffical) but will be scored in some PT class. That points system still has my head spinning, but I have had fun when a ran NASA events in the past.

If this were legal... I (or anyone that wishes, not that I am implying or seeming to imply that I want to... but it would make for an interesting project) could build a Fiero that would win ITA hands down!

Heck, I just wished that Honda had rear control arms... or fronts for that matter. Bust the guy at impound after the race... $50 well spent!
