No official results, but a few observations: from what I could see (flagging at #3 Sun & #10 Mon) there was some incredible racing both days. Sunday was sunny & dry, Monday was overcast & mixed wet/dry (and noticeably cooler), but still had some great racing. I heard from some of the other F&C workers that 400+ cars were there for the weekend!
The Miatas predictably put on good shows both days, but I think the best race of the weekend was the SRX7 race Monday. Cars 37 (Brian Zalner) & 73 (Ken Zalner) put on an awesome show, running nose to tail the whole race, with (I believe) Ken eventually taking the win. And man do those RX7s use the whole track - the top cars were consistently putting the right wheels in the gravel exiting 3, and all 4 wheels outside the curbing in 10!
The ITS races featured the usual suspects, with Ed York and Sam Asinugo battling it out both days, with (if I recall correctly) Ed taking the Sunday race in the dry, and Sam winning Monday in the wet. ITA was a little more interesting. Kirk Dohne won the Sunday race (in a 240SX no less), but on Monday there was this little ITA Miata that was flat out flying! He won ITA & overall (ITS/ITA group), consistently walking away from the 2 top bimmers on the straights. As you can guess there were many Miata drivers lining up to get the name of that guy's engine builder, and I even saw a few of the tech inspectors after the race asking him where they could get an engine like his
Seriously though, I would be interested to hear what, if anything, happened in tech with that car. The only way we could figure that he could possible outrun the BMW's is if he were on wets while the whole rest of field was on drys.
In ITB car #17 (Steve Hoffman?) was strong both days - I know he won Monday & believe he won Sunday also (it's sometimes hard to keep track of who's winning when you're on yellow flag!).
All in all it was a great weekend to watch/work, although I hear most of the real action occurred on Saturday (I had other obligations Saturday and couldn't make it), at least from the corner worker's standpoint!
