Wreck Me Otters go Round and Round?

Is that the Peter Keane of ITB Accord, er I mean IT A Accord fame?? I thought he lived up here in the NE. Perhaps he winters south....

You've got me curious, but I assume it is. He moved down to FL sometime before the 2003 season (or there about). And he did come up north to run his miata for a race - can't remember which one though.

If it is you Peter, congrats! Very cool.

I think so. I believe NASCAR sold it to IPOWER last year.

That track is just up the road. Had I known I would have gone.

"Wreck me otters" is pseudo cockney slang for "Spec Miatas" - grounded in the way David 'obbs pronounces the model name.

Yup, my brother and I where there. It was fun because it was different and I we know all the drivers involved. Anyway, I have a couple of 60 seconds AVIs that if someone could host, I would be more than glad to email. The are about 10 megs.

...I'm not going to say the name of the driver but he's comment after the race was "You have just witness my entire stock car career. Never doing it again."

Richy,

Try [email protected]. Assuming my inbox is large enough (and the webmaster doesn't have a fit) we should be able to keep them up long enough for folks to check them out.

The link worked for me!!!

I am also curiose if that is Peter from the Northeast???

Also I find it interesting that they do market the youngsters (age 14), a place that SCCA doesn't do well IMO.

I wonder.....

How much does it cost to enter...

What kind of track time you get...

Prize money?

Liklihood of a write off..(circle track walls and other yahoos)

And...what kind of insurance they provide.

Might be tempting if you already have an SM, and theres an event near you....

and a darn good description as well

Yes it is me, Peter Keane form the northeast and Accord. Buck Parker did purchase the Dash series from NASCAR and came up with the idea of the Mean Miata series. I know Buck from Flis Motorsports (Spirit of Daytona, Grand-Am DP team) and he needed help getting the series off the ground.

I did lived in the Boston area for 9 years, but moved back home to FLA in Dec. 2002. Fla is flat and warm.

Lateapex911, the entry fee is usually $75 plus the driver has to be an Ipower member (covers insurance similar to SCCA). There is a $1,000.00 purse and in the beginning the racers will be made up of SCCA guys that want to try circle track racing or road racers that have circle track experience. As long as I am envolved we will be very stricked on people driving over their heads. There is a race scheduled at Lake Erie, PA. June 5th.

I had a blast at New Smyrna. That is me in the KBR "yellow" Miata.

Oh I almost forgot, the Miata series will be part of the Ipower TV show, which airs on Sunshine Network in FLA.

Peter,

You look pretty quick! Congratulations on the series.

I live just down the road and am sorry I missed the New Smyrna race. Do you expect to be racing again in central Florida anytime soon?

Also, have you given any thought to letting oval drivers take a ride in the Miatas? I know, they would need to rent/borrow a car, but I know some who would like to try it.

Pete-

Congrats on the series, I think it is great to see the Road Racing and Circle Track worlds coming together (somplace other than IRL and Carts future). If SCCA is smart they will work with you to promote Road Racing. I think that their is a great potential for a transition... (not that we want to see you loose people in your series

) maybe a great opertunity for a road racing and circle track series???

Great work anyway, hope all is well

PS: yes I know that NASCAR runs 2 road races, but they seem to hate it, nascar fans and drivers alike...)

gsbaker, we are panning to do one or two more races at NSS and we will be scheduling another test day. Ipower plans to buy one or two house cars for rentals, try outs and schooling. If you know of interested parties, I am sure that we can find a car for them to try.

Raymond, good to hear from you. As you know, I do not consider myself a circle track racer, but love to race in fun well run events. Once the Ipower series and schedules become more solidifierd, the goal is to have a 10-15 race series with a few of them being road races.
